CORE Cooking oil recycling ending Augs 1st
7/29/2024 3:55:14 PM
Greetings, Neighbors
Effective August 1st, H2GO will be ending our Cooking Oil Recycling Effort (CORE) program. In the upcoming weeks crews will collect the drop-off cabinets and containers. H2GO will not receive used cooking oil or grease at any of our locations starting August 1, 2024.
Our Oil/Grease removal company is no longer accepting oil/grease from the CORE program. Many removal companies are requiring tracking of the oil and grease provided by the public. The companies are also concerned with contaminants in the used oil and grease which could have adverse effects on their recycling processes.
While the CORE program has been a valuable part of our community efforts, we believe that if we focus our resources to public education and outreach, we can achieve a similar goal the CORE program provided. Customers can explore cooking methods that require little to no oil, such as steaming, boiling, or using an air fryer. Reducing your overall oil usage not only minimizes disposal needs but also promotes healthier cooking habits and a cleaner environment. Here is a resource to learn more on how to recycle cooking oil: How to Recycle Cooking Oil - Earth911
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the CORE program cancelation, please contact Bob Walker, H2GO Executive Director, at bwalker@H2GOonline.com or 910-371-9949, ext. 1006
